Megan knocked on her boy’s bedroom door.
“Come in.”
“Hey Peanut. You busy?”
“Naaw, just sitting around.”
“Can I talk to you?”
He shrugged.
“Sure.”
“I want you to tell me whats bothering you. I know I hurt you when I didn’t tell you about Jon, but I thought I was protecting you. What are you so angry about? Please tell me!”
Defiance settled in his blue eyes, his chin jutting forward.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
Going down on her knees, she took his hands in hers.
“Please honey. I want to make this right.”
He stood up, putting some distance between him and his mother. Turning around he let his emotions fly.
“Why didn’t you tell me about my father?! Why didn’t you tell my dad about me? You know how many times the kids at the school teased me for not knowing where my father was? They told me he didn’t want to know me. That he was too embarrassed to have me as a son. Is that why you kept it from us?”
“No baby no! That’s not that at all. I told you, we were young when I fell pregnant. Your dad just started his band and I was still in school, I didn’t want to make life difficult for him.”
“So you made it unbearable for me?!” He was no screaming at her, his body shaking.
“Get out of my room!”
Megan felt defeated, her talk just made things worse, out of control!
“Whoooaaa, what’s going on here?!” Jon’s blue eyes appeared around the door frame.
“I was just leaving.”
Grabbing her arms lightly he stopped her.
“No. I want to know what’s going on here.” Looking sternly at Jaden.
The boy’s eyes widened in fear.
“We had a few words.” Megan saw the frown on his face. He wasn’t going to let it go so easily.
“By the sound of it Jaden had a few more than you. I don’t know what happened here, but Jaden this is unacceptable. You will respect your mother, no matter what. I’m not into spanking but boy if I EVER here you talking or screaming at her like that, I’ll warm that butt of yours. Do you understand me?”
Stern blue eyes locked with shocked ones.
“Yes, dad.”
“I guess you earn your mother an apology.”
Turning obediently towards his mom, he did as he was told.
“I apologize mom.”
“Good now you can stay in your room and think about what you have done.”
“Yes, dad.”
Propelling her forward, he closed the door behind them.
“What was that all about?” he studied her face and saw the streaks on her cheeks, the slightly swollen eyes.
“I tried to make amends, it didn’t go that well.”
A calloused thumb traced the streaks down her face.
“Why the tears?”
“I’m just being silly.” Smiling understandingly.
“Oohh, that time of the month? “
“No.” she gave him a blank stare.
His fingers had slid lower, cupping her chin.
“ I don’t like to see you cry baby.”
“I dont like to cry.”
She was drowning in his eyes., she saw him coming closer and her mind whirled.
“I have to get ready for tonight.”
He froze in midair, the dreamy look in his eyes gone in an instant.
“Oh yeah, the big date?” he sneered.
“Just a date, just like all the others.”
Jason’s lusty eyes invaded his mind.
“Yeah, right.” He turned on his heel and stalked off, his fists bulging.
