Chapter 209

Chapter 210Jon’s head was still spinning from the recent events.  They had walked in and found Dorothea groaning in pain. The nurse came rushing in and from there everything went haywire.
She had dilated to 6cm and there was no denying it. The baby was coming.
Jon had felt a sudden rush of panic, but as soon as he locked gazes with Dorothea’s panic stricken eyes he knew, he had to be strong for the three of them.
The nurse administered pain medication through the drip and after that all was plain sailing.
Dorothea’s water broke after that and not long after, to the doctor’s surprise, did she feel the need to push.
A tiny little boy entered the world not long after and Jon couldn’t explain the joy he felt when he heard the baby’s tiny cry.
He was wrapped up and introduced to his parents for a few moments before he was whisked off for further tests and a thorough examination.
~~
Richie found Jon staring through the nursery window. They were still busy working on him and didn’t allow Jon access just yet.
“He is here Rich. Tiny but so perfect!”
“Congrats my man!”
They hugged for a moment.
“How is Dot?”
“She is ok. Glad its over but worried about the baby.”
“Did you call Megan?”
Blue eyes widened.
“Oh fuck!! No I totally forgot!”

“No worries, I’ll ring her.”

~~
Megan wasn’t sure what to expect as she walked into the room. The baby was a few hours old but the room was filled with flower arrangements and baby hampers.
She was met with a bright eyed Dorothea and a smiling Jon.
“Hello new mama!” She hugged the excited woman.
“He is so tiny Meg, but healthy, well as healthy as can expected! “
“I am so happy for you!”
Facing Jon was so difficult to do. It felt like she was facing a stranger. He realised her discomfort and decided to bridge the problem before it got out of hand. It didn’t work quite as hoped.
“Hey  Sweetness.”
“Hello, congratulations on the new baby boy.”
He pulled her into his arms but she felt stiff and unyielding in his arms, she didn’t offer her lips to him and he couldn’t help but feel utter helplessness and a tinge of panic. She stepped out of his arms the first moment she got, sitting down by Dorothea’s side.
Megan sucked in her gut and somewhere deep inside she managed to drag her chirpy self out from the darkest corner of her soul.
“Soo tell me does baby have a name yet?”
Dorothea looked at Jon.
“Well we discussed it and decided on Jesse.”
“I like that! Jesse....hhhmmm.”
Just then Richie and Jaden came bouncing in the room, balloons everywhere!
“Hey Dorothea! I brought this for the baby. Where is he?”
“Oh he is in the nursery, Peanut . Remember I explained to you that the baby is a bit early so he will need some special care until he is a bit bigger.”
His face dropped.
“So I cant see him? I cant show him the balloons?”
Jon squeezed his son’s shoulder.
“Of cause you can see him. Ask mom to go with us and then we’ll go and say hi to the little chap.”
Megan didn’t have the strength to be alone with Jon. She looked up to make and excuse, but his pleading eyes made her swallow her words.
“Come quick mom!” He was pulling on her hand.
“Hey! Pregnant lady here! Remember?”
She smiled at his youthful impatience.
As they walked out of the room she felt Jon taking her hands. Hers felt cool in his.
“You ok, baby?”
“Of cause, why wouldn’t I be? I’m so relieved that everything worked out well for you, Dorothea and the baby.”
“I am too, but how are YOU?”
Megan watched their son as he skipped with the absurd amount of balloons in his hands...Its a boy and congratulations were printed on them....
“Meg?”
“I am just fine.”
“Then why wouldn’t you kiss me? You could barely wait to get out of my arms...”
“I just don’t think Dorothea wants to be reminded of her situation right at this moment. She just became a mom of a premature baby...she just don’t need it right now.”
“Well I’m sorry but I wont stand for it. If I want to touch my wife and kiss her, I’ll do just that. Don’t ever push me away again Meg..”
His flashing blue eyes didn’t sit well with her.
