Chapter 208

She heard them arrive and smiled. Jaden loved Jason so much!

They sat down to hot coffee and fresh baked cookies.

“So tell me what you have been up to?”

“Oh this and that, growing a baby mostly.”

Jason laughed.

“By the looks of it, it must have kept you busy, huh?”

“Ohh yes but its almost done..just a few weeks to go.”

“Thanks ma! I’m gonna take a ride on Blaze now..see ya later!!”

“Ok hun be careful and remember...”

“My helmet ...I knooowwww!”

“Ok..Just making sure.”

“So tell me. How is Dorothea doin?”

“Not too good. Jon is with her, the baby will be born soon. She is having a very difficult pregnancy.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. Now tell me how are you in all of this?” He dwarfed her hands with his.

“I’m ok. Its a bit difficult sometimes..but I’m ok.”

“Sometimes I wish I could have taken this all away for you. If only I could...”

Megan gave him a lopsided smile.

“Life doesn’t work that way....”

“If I had a magic wand I would have changed allot of things.” His gaze was trained on their hands.

“Jase?”

“Meg I came here to tell you something. You remember the new girl that started working for me?”

“Yes?”

“I’m going to ask her to marry me.”

Megan jumped up, hugging the sitting man to her.

“That is wonderful!! I’m so glad for you! Oh Jason!!”

His arms closed around her as he stood up.

“She is not you.”

Megan was speechless. What was there to say?

“I love you Meg. I always will but I know there will never be anything from you but friendship. And that’s ok, I treasure your friendship. I always  will. I just came to the conclusion that I need to go on with my life and I found a lifemate in her. What I’m telling you today I’ll never ever repeat but I just had to tell you this. I hope you don’t hate me, I still need your friendship...Meg?”

She was staring at him with tears threatening to spill.

“I feel honoured Jase. I really do and I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you like you wanted to but I’m sure in time things will change. Just promise me you wont marry her hastily. She doesn’t deserve to be second best.”

“I love her....differently  . She is a wonderful lady and she will make me happy but I just needed to get his off my chest so I can go on with my life.”

Megan’s phone pealed in the silence.

“Sorry I have to get this, it  might be Jon.”

“Hello?”

Megan’s colour drained from her face as she sagged onto the chair.

“Is everything ok?”

“Thanx Rich...bye.”

Megan sat there, stiff as a corpse.

Alarmed by her paleness he knelt by her side.

“Meg?”

“Dot just gave birth to a baby boy.”
