Chapter 220

Megan snuggled comfortably in bed, stroking the fuzzy head so close to her, smiling at the little grunting noises as she suckled greedily.  After a while the sucking lessened as baby fell asleep. Lifting her up patted gently, until she heard the release she was waiting for.
“Mom!”
Megan smiled as Jaden and her parents stood beaming at the bedroom door.
“Come in you guys! She just fell asleep. She was a bit hungry!”
Jaden tiptoed towards the bed, the anticipation in his yes almost turning it an illumining blue.

“She is soooo tiny!”

He touched tentatively, not sure how to approach his new sibling.

Mary and Patrick took turns to hug their daughter, congratulating her.

“Do you want to hold her daddy?” Megan offered.

This was a very special yet heart aching moment for father and daughter.

He was blinded by tears, yet sat down, holding his arms out to welcome his granddaughter.

Jon walked in on the special moment, he could feel something heavy was going down, what it was all about, he wasn’t sure yet.

Mary walked up to Jon, offering a soft peck and a hug.

“Congratulations Jon. She is beautiful.”

“Why thank you. She is damn cute aint she? Actually I think we all have to thank my wife, she did a wonderful job, delivering her safely.”

Love drifted from his face towards his wife. Richie strolled in. He was on such a high since the baby was born, it could almost be his baby.

“Here is the man of the hour, I hear?” Mary hugged him closely to her bosom.

“Thank you for what you have done for our Meg.”

“Oh that is my pleasure, Mary. I’ll do it all over again. What an experience!”

“You didn’t think that at the time, did you?” Megan teased and giggled as he coloured.

“Let me tell you. That is one dangerous woman when she goes into labour! Damn, she was a hellcat!”

“Arrggh it wasn’t that bad....was it?” she asked hesitantly as Jon and Richie looked at each other.

“Honey you gave bad a new meaning..but we’re not holding it against you..not at all. Look at what you had to give birth to! I wouldn’t have made it..no ma’am.”

He leaned forward to coo at the sleepy infant.

“Now tell me, are we gonna call her baby for the rest of her life or do we actually have a name for her.”

Jon kissed the small forehead.

“We decided to call her Ashley Taylor Bongiovi.” He revealed with a smile on his face.

“Thats wonderful! I love it! Now may I have a turn now?” Mary
grumbled jealously at her hubby.

A thought struck Megan.

“Where is Dorothea?”

“She is here somewhere. She would love to see the baby, but you scared the shit out of her earlier.”

Megan blushed furiously.

“Please call her. I would like to apologise.”

Richie flicked an eyebrow her way, but she pretended not to see.

“I’ll go get her.” Jon turned to walk out, Patrick short on his heels.

“Jon...before you go. I need to talk to you..privately.”

“Well walk with me and then we’ll go somewhere. Everything ok, old man?” He patted his gently on the back.

“Everything will be ..soon.”

Concern was etched in his eyes.

~~~
Dorothea entered the door, obviously uneasy about what to expect.
Megan motioned her to come in. Mary watched her daughter’s strange demeanour. She was smiling but her eyes were icy cold, almost hateful. Mary turned her eyes on the approaching woman.
“Come in. I think I owe you an apology. I don’t know what I was thinking.”
Dorothea sighed relieved that it wasn’t what she feared.
“Please don’t apologise. I was out of line walking in there. I’m the one that should apologise.”
They hugged and Megan did all she could not to cringe away in disgust.
“Ooohhh my God she is sooo cute! She looks so much like Jon, although I think she’ll have your dark hair. She is gorgeous and so big!”
“I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Now that you’ve mentioned it,
I don’t see Jon in Jesse at all...”
She let the words hang in the air.
Dorothea froze for a moment.
“Maybe he looks more like my side of the family..”
Megan’s eyes bore into her.
“Yeah...maybe...”
For some absurd reason did Dorothea feels her hair raise in the back of her neck. Mary stood there silently, her daughter was acting really strange...Something wasn’t right.
