Chapter 141

Jason waited with a heavy heart for Megan’s call, knowing what the verdict will be.
He had seen the way Jon looked at her and to be honest what man in his right mind will say no thank you to a woman like that?
She had everything a man could ask for.
By midday he couldn’t take it anymore and he dialed her number.
Her hoarse voice answered the phone and he went cold all over.
“Megan? Sweetheart you didn’t call me like we discussed are everything ok?”
She burst into noisy tears.
“Sweetheart I’m coming over. I’ll see you in a while, ok?”
“O…O..Ok.”
~~
Megan slid into his car, shades hiding her swollen eyes.
“Lets have an ice cream or something.” His hand patted her knee gently.
“Maybe we could get something from the roadhouse? I don’t feel like being around people.”
“Sure honey. “
Jon saw the car pull away, resting his forehead against the cold window, cursing himself for being such a fucking asshole! Maybe she deserved better, but why does it feels like someone just ripped his guts out and fed it to him?
You had no right to feel jealous you asshole! You just slept with another woman! You don’t have any say at this point…
Driving from the roadhouse, two ice creams held in her hand, Jason searched for a quiet spot.
Taking the ice cream from her, he almost swallowed the whole thing when she took off her shades.
She stared out the window, the ice cream forgotten in her hand.
He kept himself busy with the ice cream, waiting for her to talk when she felt like it. Only after he wiped the last remnance off his mouth did she started her heartbroken speech.
“Jon didn’t come home last night. I waited up for him but he never came. He spent the night with Dorothea.”  She stared at her ice cream, only licking it to keep it from dripping all over her lap.
“Oh honey. I’m sorry.” He truly was but he felt  a flicker off hope.
“I am too.”
“So you’re not going to tell him then huh?”
Shaking her head she lifted her teary face towards him.
“Whats the use? He obviously wants to be with her. The only thing left to do is to move out, I really don’t want to live there anymore and he cant make me.”
“Where are you going to go? Back to your aunt?”
“Well my parents are moving out. He is really a  good dad to Jaden, I don’t want him to feel that I’m trying to keep his son from him. So the closer I live the better.”
He nodded in agreement.
“I understand but you know you are always welcome at my place. It huge and its lonely I can do with some company when I come home.” He wiped a few falling tears from her face.
“You are such a sweet man! Why do you put up with me?”
“Because I love you, that’s why. Now! Don’t feel pressured. You have a lot of things to figure out and I’m the last person you have to worry about. I just want to be there for you when you need a shoulder to cry on, ok?”
A sweet smile broke through the tears and she leaned towards him. She needed that human touch, the human touch that said, I care.
Jon heard the car drove up from the studio, knowing who it was, he didn’t dare get up. He was still nursing his hangover from hell and truth be told he couldn’t handle seeing her with the Vet.
Just as they walked towards the door another car stopped.
Dorothea got out of the car, a smile adorning her face.
“Hello, Megan!”
Turning around she smiled flirtingly at Jason.
“Hi, I’m Dorothea. “
“I’m  Jason. Please to meet you.”
“Wow, Megan you didn’t tell me you had a hunk for a boyfriend!”
Megan frowned irritatingly at her and Dorothea knew that she went too far.
“Anybody knows where Jon is? The poor baby had a bit too much too drink and I just wanted to make sure he is ok.”
Megan shrugged. She could care less where he was. She felt so ready to slap that grin from her face. Everybody knew where he spent the night .  There was no need to rub it in any further.”
Jason saw the shrewdness in Dororthea’s eyes and he immediately disliked the woman. She knew she had some serious competition in Megan and it scared her shitless.  Putting his arms protectively around Megan’s shoulder, he hugged her to his body, meeting Dorothea’s eyes in a challenge. She chose not to take the challenge and looked away, licking her lips nervously.
“I’m going to see where Jon is.”
“You do that.” Jason’s voice was cold.
