Chapter 142

After her search and incessant calling out his name she found him in the studio.
His hands were buried in his hair, his eyes shut.
“Jon?”
He jerked and looked up, pain painting his eyes a luminous blue.
“Hey.”
“How you feeling?”
“Like shit.”
“Did you take anything for it?”
“Yeah lots of fucking pills and about two pots of coffee.”
She slid onto the counter next to him, streaking her fingers through his hair.
“You’ll  be ok by tonight. So tell me why did you bolt at first light? The bed was cold you know.”
“I’m sorry. I must have been pissed out of my mind for you to bring me to your place and I don’t even remember it.”
“You were drunk…but not THAT drunk.” She insinuated.
“Is that a fact?” his stomach twisted.
SHIT! He still had a shred of hope that he just passed out, she just crushed it.
“I’m sorry Dot. I didn’t mean to make a pass at you with my drunk ass.”
“Oh don’t be sorry Darlin’. We had some real good fun.”
Not wanting her to touch him anymore he scraped his chair back, thinking of an excuse to get away from her.
“Coffee?”
“Sure why not, thanks.”
She followed him towards the small kitchen.
“I just have a little concern but I don’t think we need to worry about it. I hope not anyway.”
Her cryptic ramblings made his hair stood on end but he kept on making the coffee.
“Oh?”
“Well…uum. As you know we both had a bit too much to drink and well….uhh we didn’t use anything.”
His hand froze in midair. He lifted his face and stared at the cupboard in front of him, the spoon in one hand the sugar in the other.
Oh God! Now he got her pregnant!
Twining an arm lovingly around his bicep, she laid her head against it, keeping her voice light.
“Don’t be such a worrywart! Maybe nothing will come from it. We’ll just have to wait and see, but if it turns out to be a little something…”
Her heart was pounding, waiting for him to say something encouraging.
He didn’t.
“Lets wait and see ok?”
Jon was even more quiet and pale after their little talk. Seeing that he wasn’t getting out of his black mood soon, she took her leave. Leaving him alone with this new development to chew on, she hoped it didn’t steer him towards the opposite direction!
Jon had this sudden urge to hit his head really hard against the wall or even jump in the damn river.
He doesn’t even love her! He loved Megan ,he wanted more babies with Megan not Dorothea! God in heaven he was turning into a real rockstar,  children by different mothers!   He vowed never to be that guy and looked what happened!  At least now the tabloids will have something to crucify him with. Fucking great!
Dwelling in his own misery he totally forgot about Jason.
He smelled the aroma of frying onions and garlic. Coming closer he heard Jaden’s chatter and Megan’s feminine giggle. Lord he loved her giggle! He smiled and worked towards the kitchen only to stop when his eyes rested on the mountain with his back to the door, obviously the source of Megan and Jaden’s  humor.
“You look so funny mom!”
“She does doesn’t she? I think she looks cute actually.”
“Stop it Jason! JASON!”
“Don’t let her get away Jason!”
Growling he turned towards the boy.
“I think its your turn now!”
Jaden shrieked and tried to duck, but Jason’s huge strides and long arms were no match to an eight year old boy.
Seeing the cosy little family scene his heart squeezed painfully.
Megan saw him first and her laughter died. She had flour on her cheeks, her nose and even the loose tendrils framing her face.
“Hello, Jon!”
Jason came around the counter, holding out his hand in greeting.
Jason had a run in with the flour as well.
“Megan here is making a pie for dinner. I hope you don’t mind if I stay for dinner. I love her cooking. “
“Of cause you can stay.”
Jaden smiled at Jon, his hair lightened by the flour.
“We will clean up, promise. We had a bit of a flour war in here.” Jason explained.
Jon didn’t see  his son advancing towards him.
“Gotcha!”
A puff of flour exploded in his face. Jaden started his own giggle and stared at his father.
“You look funny!”
“Oh I do ,huh? Let me see…hhhmmmm.”
Megan’s breath caught in her throat. He was just so gorgeous!
He sauntered over to her, palming his hands into the flour he gave her a quick wink and swung around chasing the shrieking Jaden into a corner.
“Aaaahh dad!!”
“Now that is what I call funny!”
