Chapter 134

Are you going out today?”
“No, why?”
“I have a surprise for Jaden and I just wanted to make sure you two don’t run off somewhere.”
Megan frowned when Jason appeared with a horsetrailer later that day.
Jon flashed her a secretive smile.
Stepping into the foyer she called out to Jaden.
“Peanut, please come down for a minute.”
Jaden’s confusion grew by the second when he saw the horsetrailer.  Jason came round the trailer a huge smile on his face.
“Jaden, come help me quickly.”
Jaden was off like a rabbit.
Feeling her hair stood up she recognized  Jon’s presence behind her.
“Whats going on?”
“Just wait and see.”
Jaden’s whoop shattered the silence of the afternoon, the joy on Jon’s face were immeasurable.
“MOM! Come look!”
Jaden walked from the trailer, a sturdy pony following him. The happiness on her son’s face was undeniable.
“I have a new pony!”
“Jon?”
“Well. Blaze cannot be ridden and seeing as Jaden is missing out on some serious exercise for his upcoming shows, I reckon it would be a good idea to buy him a pony. Blaze could have a girlfriend and Jaden a pony to ride on….”
Jon leaned in closer, his breath tickling her ear.
“Maybe old Blaze could have a ride too, who knows?” Goosebumps broke out all over her skin.
“Ok please keep that thought to yourself. Jaden is too young for sex education.”
Jon roared next to her, seeing her bright red face just send a rush  through him.
Jason met up with them. Kissing Megan as always, Megan saw the smile die from Jon’s face.
“So what do you think of her, Meg? She is a champ in her category. The previous owners sold her because the girl lost interest in showjumping. She came at a price but I think she’s worth every penny.”
“She is a beautiful little thing!”
Megan watched as her son admired his new pony, sliding his hands lovingly over the shining, inky skin.
Blaze whinnied excitedly as he smelled another pony in the afternoon air and a mare at that, walking towards Blaze the mare whinnied back.
Jon flicked her a knowing look and she shot daggers out of hers.
“Oh uh, Blaze has a new girlfriend. Poor Jaden might not be able to ride her for too long.”
“Oh Jason,  not you too?! Is that all men can think about?!”
“Honey men are built that way. “ his eyes glided appreciatively over her curves.
“Oh shush wont you! GGmmmfff ….men!”
Changing the subject, Jon thanked him for making such a good choice in a pony.
Jason declined a cup of coffee to Jon’s greatest relief.
“So our date is still on for Saturday then?”
She saw Jon’s back stiffened.
“Yep, it is. I just have to make sure my mom can look after Jaden.”
“Let me know if anything comes up, ok?”
The truck pulled away.
“Soo,  things getting serious with you two?” He tried to sound neutral.
“I’m not even going to answer that.”
“By the way, Jaden is my child too. I think I’ll be able to watch him.”
“Don’t be so sensitive Jon. I thought you and Dorothea might want to go out, that’s why I didn’t ask you.”
Shrugging his shoulders, he said.
“I guess you’re right.”
Jaden came running from the stables, his face lit up like a Christmas tree.
Ruffling his hair, he smiled down at his son.
“So you like her?”
“She is AWESOME!!! Blaze likes her too. Now he has a friend too!”
“What do you say honey?” Megan reminded him of his manners.
Looking shyly up to Jon he formed the word Jon had almost given up on.
“Thank you…dad.”
Megan’s heart jerked as the word flowed from his mouth. The utter surprise on his face was heartwarming.
He circled his arms around Jon’s waist. Jon hugged back and didn’t even try to hide the tears slipping from his electric blue eyes.
