Chapter 128

Watching her reflection in the mirror, Dorothea sighed. She was nervous as hell. What if he chases her from his property, embarrassing her even more?
That is just a chance you have to take. There was a lot at stake, a husband and a baby. Oh how would she love to have a baby!
Blowing out some pent up breath, she grabbed her keys and was out the door.
Her car crawled up the lane, the big mansion looming in front of her. If she knows him well enough, he should be in the studio. The all round workhorse.
~~
The guys heard a noise and looked up into a very pissed woman. Megan was almost steaming from the ears and if looks could kill….phew..Jon would have been so dead right now.
“I need to talk to you.”
Richie knew that was his cue to leave and he hastily stood up, flicking a quick look her way and stretched his steps as thunderbolts flickered in her eyes. Jon was in this alone!
Hearing the door shut, she let it fly.
“Why didn’t you even bother to tell me about your so called offer to my parents?!”

Leaning back, he propped his feet on the table, folding his hands on his lap.
“I didn’t get around to it, yet.”
Oh, so now he thought he was funny!?
“Cut the shit Jon! Why are you doing this? Chasing them off your ground? Do you have some kind of vendetta against me?”
The sneer on his face was deadly. His eyes as cold as a day in Antartica cant get.
“Not everything revolves around you Megan. My offer was meant to be in good faith. What do you want me to do, work your dad to death. Will that make you happy?”
He was shouting at her, and she crinched. Did he know something? Did he figure it out and this was his way to punish her?
“I don’t believe you. But this is your place and you are the boss, right?” She felt tired..so bone achingly tired.
“You see wrong in everything I do. I’m so fucking sick of it!”
Dorothea heard Jon’s angry voice  and her steps faltered. Maybe she should come back another time. She knew how sweet he could be but when that Italian temper flared….
The door flung open and a dark haired woman rushed from it, making sure she turn back and slammed the door so hard she thought it might go right through to the other side!
She turned and almost slammed into her.
“Oh! Excuse me.”
Eyes met and Dorothea saw recognition flicker.
“Hi, I’m Dorothea. Is Jon around?”
Lord but Megan sure was a beauty. Jon had a weakness for beautiful woman…girls at least.
“Please to meet you. I’m Megan. He is in there.” She nodded towards the slammed door.
“Thank you.”
With a shaky hand she  opened the door.
She found him in the kitchen, serving himself a cup of coffee and muttering furiously under his breath.
“Hello, Jon.”
His head jerked up, the cold blue eyes telling her just how upset he actually was.
“Dot?! Well this is a surprise.”
His smile was genuine and she felt her knees buckle. God what a handsome man he was!  Not able to help herself, she drank in his perfectness. From the nonchalant way his hair fell into place, to the half open shirt giving her a peek of fur and male chest and then down to his hip hugging jeans, displaying that undeniable bulge he could never hide from eager female eyes.
She felt his eyes on her and glanced upwards. The self assured smirk of a man who knows how he affects woman warmed the pit of her stomach even more. Remembrance of hot, passionate nights shared mirrored in her eyes.
“Well, what brought you here?”
“I heard you’re a dad. I just thought I would like to congratulate you in person and maybe meet your son.” She blurted out.
“Aaahhh, you had a chat with my busybody of a mom huh?” the smile wasn’t so genuine anymore.
He could spot her uneasiness a mile away.
“We met for coffee and your name came up.”
“Uhuh.”
He wasn’t convinced.
“Sooo , where is the little chap?”
“He’s not that little Dot. He’s eight. But I guess you knew that too?”
“Yes.”
“Well he’s not here. You’ll have to come back another day, sorry darlin’”
Feigning disappointment, she made her way towards him.
“Are you terribly busy today?”
“Yep, Richie and I are working on some songs.”
Seeing her pull a face, he remembered why their relationship didn’t work out. She didn’t understand his passion for music.
“And tonight?”
“Free as a bird. You wanna take me somewhere?” Lord he was such a tease!
“Well I just thought we could go out, have some dinner…”
Megan’s face loomed into his mind.  She’s pissed at him anyway and Dot is just a friend.
Her legs turned to jelly when he flashed her his perfect pearlies.
“I’ll pick you up at 7 then?”
“Seven it is.”
