Chapter 108

The car pulled up at the doctor’s room. Jon had insisted to go with, he wanted to see how Blaze was doing and Megan had a feeling that he wanted to spoil Jaden for the afternoon.
He had this secretive glint in his eye and no matter how hard she tried, he didn’t let up.
“You wait and see. ” Was his answer.
After quick x-rays, Jaden was rid of his cast. The shoulder and arm looked thin and pale.
“No wonder this one broke so easily. Just look at it, scrawny little sucker.” Jon winked at Megan.
“It wasn’t always like this! Argh Jooon!” he giggled when he realized.
“Be careful with this for a while. Your arm and shoulder needs to get their strength back. I would recommend no horse riding for a while.”
“That’s ok. My pony got hurt too. I cant ride anyway.”
Jaden was a bundle of energy when they stopped at the vet.
“You two go on. We’ll be there in a minute.”
Jason stayed behind with Jon.
The pony must have heard or smelled Jaden. Blaze snorted and whinnied softly.
“Hey boy!!”
He pressed his face in to the creature’s mane. They shared a bond not even Megan could comprehend.
“Not too many lumps now!”
The two men sauntered towards them.
A questioning brow was flicked their way. Nothing.
Jason walked up, kissing her softly on the lips. It didn’t feel the same as Jon’s…she caught Jon’s frown on them.
“He is a fighter this little pony. He receives his therapy everyday and his recovery is phenomenal! If all goes well, he might see his new home in a few days!”
“Did you hear that sweetheart!”
He hugged the pony, kissing it on the muzzle.
“We have an awesome home Blaze! Jon built a stable just for you and a huge paddock where you can watch the river! I have so much to tell you!”
The pony’s ears were trained on its master, listening intently.
Jason rested his hands on Megan’s shoulders.
“Soooo pretty lady. Now that I saved your son’s pony, don’t you think you owe me a thank you dinner?”
“I guess I do. Maybe next week, when Blaze is home and Jaden is settled into his new school..”
When he heard about Megan moving to Jon’s place he was more than curious. Not wanting to pry he just accepted that she was moving in with her parents, making sure she was close to her work. He would ask her when they go out soon. The man watched Megan’s every move and sometimes he could feel daggers aiming at his back. Jon sure as hell didn’t like him very much.
“That’s a deal then and no backing out of it missy!”
“I promise.”
Jon could feel his temper rising, but Megan’s accusing voice rang in his head, warning him that he had to treat Jason politely. The thought of her having dinner with him and maybe even…fuck no! He shook his head lightly, hoping he could get it out of his mind.
After a great meal and a full day did they head back. Jon was quieter than usual and it seemed that he had a lot on his mind.
Richie and Jaden opted for a lazy night of movies and popcorn and Megan was tempted to join.
“Ok last one to make it to the kitchen is a pu…I mean woozy and has to pop the popcorn!” Riche blushed and looked towards Megan. His lips formed an unmistakable oops and Megan pointed a finger at him, the smile to difficult to suppress.
“Him and his foul mouth!” Jon laughed.
Megan moved her chair backwards to stand up but Jon’s hand on hers stopped her.
“Megan I thought about this long and hard. At first I wanted to do this alone but I think its best if I take you along. I want to tell my parents about Jaden. I couldn’t tell them over the phone, so will you do this with me?”
A ton of bricks hit Megan in the stomach. Oh my God , she had totally forgot about his parents!
“Of cause I will. Its only fair. When?” Her voice was a bit unsteady.
“Right now. They are expecting me for coffee tonight.”
“Tonight!! Shit Jon, couldn’t you prepare me a bit earlier for this?!”
“I’m sorry Meg. I just thought you had so much on your mind lately and to tell you earlier and let you fret the whole day would be cruel.”
“You are right. Ok let me grab a jacket and we’ll go. Richie will watch Jaden.”
“I think that’s better. I don’t need him to go through anymore crap. My parents can meet him this weekend.”
