“Before you run baby, we are having an after party. Unfortunately I have to be there. Would you and Jaden come with me? It will only be for an hour or two.”
She shrugged.
“Ok. Then we’ll go back to my place and tell him then.”
He didn’t miss her shaky breath. He snaked his hand to the back of her neck, pulling her forward. She came willingly , feeling the fur rubbing against her cheek. He was so warm and strong, he seemed immortal to her at that moment.
“Its gonna be ok baby, you just wait and see. I’ll be the best father that he could ever wished for. Do you believe me?”
She nodded into his chest, breathing deeply of his essence, cologne mixed with him….
“Let’s go. Chin up and smile baby.”
He grabbed her hand and led her towards the car. Jaden was already waiting for them. Joe standing like a mountain, guarding the boy.
“Thanx Joe.”
The bar was already full to capacity, the rest of the band was already there. Signing and chatting. When Jon walked in everyone’s attention turned towards the couple with the unknown boy at the door.
“Here we go. Stay close.” The blinding smile immediately came to life on his face. Waving with his hand he greeted. Jon Bon Jovi as the public knows him, charmer of note, heartthrob and the lead singer of Bon Jovi.
He didn’t lose his grip on her hand. He was aware of her every move. Joe walked behind them to make sure they stay safe. His hand rested on Jaden as he towered over him. Jon made eye contact and he knew what was expected.
You keep the boy safe, I’ll be ok.
As they neared the bar, Megan slipped her hand from him, taking Jaden towards Richie.
“We’re going to sit down. You do what you have to do. We’ll be here.”
“Ok baby.”
He turned and was engulfed in hands, faces and voices calling his name.
Some of the crew was present. They gave each other a quick knowing glance when they saw Jon walking in with Megan and the protective way he held her, looking over his shoulder to make sure Joe was watching the boy.
Marcus watched in silence as the crew gossiped. So that’s how the wind blows? His hopes were crushed..or maybe. Did Jon have a thing for her and she ..well..just blinded by the rockstar thing? Maybe it will blow over and then he could be there, picking up the pieces.
Megan sat down next to Richie.
“Wine darlin’ and what would J like. Some soda?”
“Yes, please Richie.”
“I don’t know if wine is such a good idea. I need to keep my head clear.”
His huge hand shadowed her own, patting gently he said.
“Just one sweetheart, it will take the edge off. I’ll make sure you just have one..or two..” he winked at her.
“Ok, BUT just one.”
A waitress came closer.
“A glass of semi sweet wine and a big soda, thanx honey.” The smile was blinding.
“Oh going for waitresses now?”
“No but damn Meg. She has a body made in heaven. What’s wrong with having a bit of fun?”
“You cant live without having fun can you?”
“Oh hell no. That’s what life is all about.”
She cocked her head, smiling at him.
“I can see why women will fall in love with you, you are so easy to love.”
Gentle chestnut eyes smiled in hers.
“Thanx sweetheart, that is so nice of you. I does a man’s heart good to know you are still worthy of been loved.”
She tipped her chair towards him, landing a kiss on his cheek.
“You are worth it and more. You just remember that.”
She felt eyes on her and turned. Jon watched them from over the room, she turned back. An upbeat song filled the air and she grabbed her son’s hand.
“Come dance with your mom.”
She distracted Jon so badly, he had a hard time signing his name. With a sigh of relieve did he saunter over to the barcounter, ordered a wine and sat back, enjoy watching her move.
About a half an hour later, did he sneak up behind her, his mouth in her hair close to her ear.
“You ready to go?”
She met the guys’ sympathetic looks, smiled as she read the messages in them all.
“Well, guys we are outta here.”
Jon took hold of her hand, squeezing it gently.
