Jon only had to follow the singing to know where she was. That’s where he found her, standing in the kitchen, her nose in the freezer, her ass poking in the air…..that ass. He swallowed hard.
If Jon wasn’t so pissed he could show her a thing or two about making love in the kitchen. Maybe another time…
Closing the door she caught the movement close to her.
“Oh God! Jon…I hate it when you do that!”
Looking at his stormy face she remembered she was in some kind of trouble again.
Leaning back against the counter he feigned total calmness.
“Why did my son only met his grandfather today?”
She became shifty eyed, looking everywhere but him.
“The opportunity never presented itself?”
“The opper…what? Do I look like a fucking idiot to you? Its not like the boy is a few months old! He is 8 Megan, or did you forget?”
“Don’t you shout at me! I’m sick and tired of your constant questions and accusations. “
“You have a nerve! Why don’t you tell me everything and the truth at that. How many things haven’t you told me? Why cant you trust me for God sake?”
“There is nothing to tell, shit Jon just let me be!”
Anger stretched his steps and he reached her within seconds. Grabbing her, he shook her lightly, trying to hit home what he was about to say.
“For fucks sake Megan. This is not normal and not you or the pope is going to convince me that it is. There is something you are keeping from me. You can run and lie and do whatever the fuck you want. But I will get to the truth and woman, just know IF I find out the truth. There will be hell to pay and everyone involved will pay for it long and hard.”
Her father’s face flashed before her eyes and she felt the air been squeezed from her throat.
“You cant scare me Jon. I’ve told you there is nothing to tell. End of story.”
He opened his mouth but Megan’s phone cut the conversation short. Throwing his hands in the air, he stepped away from her.
Thanking her lucky stars, she pushed the answer button. The light in her eyes told him she knew who was calling.
“Hello, stranger.”
Who the hell…
“Flattery will get you nowhere mister.” The throaty laugh had his teeth on edge.
“Really? Jason that is wonderful news!”
Jon’s fists clenched, he was so ready to punch a hole in the counter right now.
Megan turned her back towards him, obviously dismissing him and seeking some privacy.
Storming past her, he made for the door, slamming the door so hard the house shuddered.
“What was that?”
“Oh just Jaden. You know kids.” Another lie to go to hell for!
“Ok. How is the little fella? “
“His old self again. He will be so glad to hear the news.”
She still had to tell him about Jon. Shit when will the confessing thing ever stop?
“Soooo little lady. When do I get my dinner with you? You owe me!”
She gave a little laugh. He isn’t going to give up but she could always use the dinner date to tell him about Jon.
“You just tell me when you are free and if possible I’ll go with you.”
“I wish it could be soon. But I’m swamped at the moment. As long as I know you’re not backing out of the deal.” His throaty laugh could make any women’s knees buckle. Not Megan’s.
He was fun though, nice guy to be with and a wonderful catch for the right lady. She was just not that lady.

Bashing the door open to the Shoe Inn he made for the fridge, grabbing a beer.
This fucking Jason is pissing him off real good. Knowing that he didn’t have any claim on Megan angered him even more and he slammed the beer down, the foam sloshing over the rim.
Where was this going to lead? Will she ever trust him enough to tell him everything? Is it even worth it to fight for her, or weren’t they meant to be? He didn’t know what he should do or think anymore! Since he saw her in the hospital everything was like a runaway rollercoaster, it just felt to him like the damn thing was stuck and refused to move an inch. Life is such a bitch sometimes!
He still had a relationship to build with his son and he couldn’t even get the boy’s mother to trust him enough. Another thought struck him and suddenly the beer tasted like shit.
Was he looking for something that wasn’t there? God but they created fireworks everytime they made love. The previous night flashed before him and felt the unmistakable bulge twitching in his pants. Maybe they were just physically compatible. Could she have a thing for the vet? Was he too late?
Cold fingers twisted his gut.
By the time he made for the house he wasn’t seeing so straight anymore. It was dark out and Megan might be in bed by now. Visions of her lying in bed, her curls spread over the pillow shrunk his pants a few sizes.
He found her in the kitchen though, cooking up a storm. Scrubbed clean from any makeup, her hair in a ponytail, she looked so young and vulnerable.
She heard the door open and the unmistakable slow steps of a not so sober person. She chose to ignore him, just stealing a quick glance as he leaned against the doorframe, just to make sure its Jon and not Richie.
Soft curls framed her face, cheeks bright and red from the heat of the oven. She was positively glowing. He caught a whiff of her perfume.
The silence stretched for too long.
“Jason called.” She kept her voice light.
“What did he want?” Venom dripped from him in gallons.
“Oh so now you’re interested?”
The alcohol buzzed in his brain, stoking the anger that’s been brewing the whole day.
“Don’t fuck with me Megan. Now is not the time.”
Her gaze flicked over him. He was actually scary standing there, watching her like that, a slumberous yet calculating look in his eyes.
“Well do you want to know why he called, or not?”
Jon’s was not in the mood to talk about the vet. His mind was straying towards other things. Tight nipples straining against satin amongst other things.
“Or not.”
How blue could his eyes get?
He advanced towards her. His eyes locked on….locked on? Her eyes followed his. Oh God!
“Jon…stop fucking around. I’m trying to have a civil conversation with you.”
“Then you shouldn’t dress like that.” One eyebrow arched upwards, challenging her.
“Well, I’m staying here too and I didn’t think you would….Jon…Jon!”
