Chapter 50

Richie managed to spend the weekend with them. Jaden saw his favourite movie, Richie bought him the newest craze of toys to Megan greatest horror.

“You are spoiling him. I can’t afford to keep this up!”

Richie watched the boy as he kept himself busy with the new toy.

“Megan, you did a spectacular job, raising this boy.”

“I have my aunt and mother to thank too, you know.”

“Yeah, I guess. But for a girl of 16 to take full responsibility for a baby..shit Meg. I’m still not sure how you did it!”

Her hand rested on his heart.

“It all there Rich. You know when you feel him move inside you, your world changes but when you hold him in your arms for the first time, you know what unconditional love is and you know you will conquer the world for this little bundle in your arms, or die trying. It’s a high you never come down from.”

“You love this boy with all that’s in you, I can see it now. I don’t want to pressure you, but does Jaden know who he’s father is?”

A guilty flush crept up her cheeks.

“No.”

“Did he never ask?”

“Not really, but he is starting to talk more and more about his dad.”

“Sweetheart, I hope you’ll be truthful with him the day he asks.”

She met his eyes.

“I want to tell Jon first and see how it goes. If he decides he doesn’t want anything to do with Jaden, I won’t tell him who his dad is. I’m not going to put my son through humiliation.”

“You think Jon will turn his back on his son? You are wrong Meg. I don’t want to scare you but he might even fight you in court for him, if you deny him his rights.”

Richie’s words scared her alright. Her eyes widened and she licked her lips continuously.

“I wont deny him his rights, but he will NOT take my son from me.”

Richie brushed a tendril from her face, trying to calm her fears but at the same time warn her.

“Just don’t give him a reason too, darlin’.”
