The guys had an early night and Jon found himself sitting at his bedroom patio, staring at the Navesink.
Dinner was excellent, Megan was a great cook and the guys had more than their fill. The conversation was as always, lively and fooling around.
She was careful as not to touch him and everytime he spoke to her he could see the uncertainty shining there.
She didn’t trust him for some reason. They fucked up when they were younger but hell can she keep it against him forever? They both fucked up! She was just a kid and he well a horny bastard, but people change for God’s sake.
A laugh filled the night air.
“Yeah right Bongiovi. Since when did that change?”
It was an interesting night. He learned that she was working for a model agency as a wardrobe assistant and even filled in as a make-up artist.
She had so much passion when she told them about her career, he could only stare at her animated explanation.
When asked why she was between jobs she clamped shut, mumbling something about not wanting to talk about it.
She managed to slip away when the guys started on the pudding. The booze and the food did their job and somehow they didn’t notice her slipping away, except Jon.
He found her in the kitchen, cradling her pudding in her hand, staring out the window while she nibbled absentmindedly.
“Knock, knock.” How can one man have such an incredible smile?
“Didn’t want to frighten you, so…”
“That was nice of you…” she managed a smile and his heart flipped.
“Meg, I want to apologize for earlier. I was only fooling around. I’m sorry, baby.”
He was too close for comfort.
“I’m sorry too. I seemed to be a bit too sensitive nowadays. Did you enjoy your meal?”
“Oh its was heaven, look I’m stuffed.”
He lifted his tee to her greatest horror, patting his six pack.
Megan didn’t utter a noise, her spoon was halfway towards her mouth and her eyes were locked on his exposed skin.
“If you wanted to flash me that six pack just say so…”
He burst out laughing and she managed to giggle.
The atmosphere changed and Jon’s laughter died, but the smile remained.
“Its so good to hear you laugh. You haven’t lost that cute girlie giggle of yours.”
“That’s actually my trademark you know.”
“Lovely trademark.”
Something buzzed in the air. He stared at her pudding and the only thing she could think of was to offer him a bite.
“Have you tasted it yet?”
He came closer. His eyes were a luminous shade of blue and green.
He shook his head.
She held the spoon towards him and noticed that her hand had lost its steadiness.
As if in slow motion he leaned forward, slipped his hand over hers, bringing the spoon towards his mouth.
Her focus was on those delectable lips and she gulped.
His mouth closed over the spoon, an appreciative groan from him caused goosebumps to pop out all over her skin.
“So you like?”
“Hhhmmm I love…”
She turned to flee from him, bit Jon was quicker.
“Why are you always running from me?”
She looked down for a few moments, gathering the courage to be honest.
She looked up and waited to see his reaction to her answer.
“I don’t trust you.”
