After that day her father eased his hold on her, as long as she was accompanied by the boys she could go.
They were her appointed guardian angels and she loved every minute of it but didnt dare abusing it. They were working hard on their new record and it was taking its toll on them. After all they did have a life of their own as well.
It was her birthday and with a joy in her heart she accompanied her mom to Jon’s place.
It was a Saturday and she had a heck of a party the previous night. She missed the guys but understood that they had some things to do and to be frank she was only 16. What would a bunch of guys of their age do at a party any way?
She helped her mother tidying the place and taking all the dishes to the kitchen when she found Richie in the hallway.
It was obvious that he did some hard partying the previous night and his eyes were scrunched up to keep as much light out of them as possible.
“Here is the birthday girl. Sixteen huh? Happy birthday honey!”
He hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.
She pushed at his chest.
“Eeewww Rich! You reek of booze! What did you do empty all the New Jersey bars last night?”
He held his fingers against his lips.
“Shhhh not so loud honey. My head is killing me.”
She went in search of painkillers. Peeking into Jon’s room she saw the still form lying on the bed.
She slipped in, walked on tip toes, taking the pills from the bathroom cupboard. He would probably also have a hangover from hell. What the heck was the use of drinking like that if you know you’ll feel like that the next morning? Men! She will never understand them.
She filled a glass, popped two pills and walked towards Jon’s nightstand. She deposited it on the nightstand. A shriek ripped from her when Jon’s hand suddenly snake out from the covers and grabbed her wrist.
“God Jon!”
“What is a little girl doing in a guy’s room when he is sleeping?” his voice was gruff.
Her chin jerked towards the ceiling and hurt shined in her eyes.
“I’m not a little girl. I’m sixteen remember? Richie has a hell of a hangover and I thought I bring him some tablets and leave some for you on your nightstand, jack ass! I’m sorry I disturbed you, your highness.” She bowed sarcastically.
“You are indeed turning into a young woman. The raging hormones turning your from a sweet girl into a feisty woman is kicking in fast I see.”
The growth of scruff shadowed his jawline, the sleepy look in his eyes and the gruffness if his voice set all the butterflies loose in her tummy. She tried to jerk her wrist from him.
“Sweet sixteen huh? Tell me Meg, have you ever been kissed?”
