Chapter 9

Jon stalked back to the room. His anger was simmering and he had a hard time hiding it.
Mary knew him and she asked worriedly.
“Everything ok, Jon?”
“Yeah, just took care of some unfinished business.”
He made himself comfortable in a lazy chair, stretching his legs to full capacity, resting his hands on his abs. His body wasn’t used to sitting down this much and soon he felt the floating feeling as sleep invaded his body.
Mary was resting with her eyes closed next to the bed, her hand still grasping her husband’s.

Megan’s hands clutched at the steering wheel. Jon always managed to bring out her most extreme emotions.  He infuriated her when he accused her of not caring about her father. What the hell does he know? Does he even realize what she had gone through when she left her parents’ home? She cried herself to sleep everynight. The days were long and lonely. Her mother, her best friend, wasn’t there when she needed her most. She was thrown into another world, a world she was forced to accept. Her spinster aunt, aunt Grace, tried her best to see to her needs. But how was she supposed to know everything about hormonal teenagers with their first broken love affair? She didn’t allow any boyfriends, not that she was remotely interested. She couldn’t shake the blue eyes, furry, muscled body and gentle hands from her mind. Hell, how do you go back to dating boys if you have tasted a real man on your lips, the passion only a man can give?

Stop it!! Dammit! Get hold of yourself. This is over, he has his own life and you yours. You are and adult, not a teenager with her first crush!
At least something good came out if this whole mess. I had the opportunity to study and make a success of my career life. At least I gave my father something to be proud of.
Her dad’s sad face swam into view.
“Oh daddy. I’m almost there. Hold on!”
Tears streamed down her face, swiping it away with the back of her hands, she didn’t realize how badly she was ruining her make up.
Stopping at the hospital she ran to the bathroom, making sure she looked presentable. A pale faced stranger with dark smudges under her eyes looked back at her. Her eyes were already puffy and the dark circles under her eyes revealed her bad sleeping habits of the past few nights.
She dragged her fingers through her hair, cleaned up smudges and tried to repair her make up as best she could.
“Oh well this has to do.”
Her heart started pounding as she neared the room. What if her father doesn’t want to see her?
She stood in the doorway for what seemed like hours, taking in the pale old man in the bed, the beeping of the monitor and her mother guarding the bed.
This wasn’t how she remembered her parents! Before her were two elderly people!
She swallowed the humugous lump in her throat.
“Hello mama…”
