Patrick was released after two days. As the days passed by the old man seemed to grew younger and more livelier. He had a healthy glow on his cheeks and just the knowledge of Megan being back in their lives made the recovery even quicker than anticipated.
Megan couldn’t believe that she offered to play housekeeper for Jon but she saw the flicker of excitement on her parents faces when Jon mentioned the Hamptons and she couldn’t allow them to pass such an opportunity up!
She didn’t miss the warm, glow and oh so satisfied smirk on Jon’s face. Richie was shocked to silence.
Something was aspiring between those two and he was sure as hell not gonna get between them. Jonny was a big boy he could handle his own shit.
Everyone welcomed Patrick home and he felt thoroughly loved. Jon refused that Megan started working until her father returned home.
She sighed, relieved that it bought her a few days to get used to the idea that she would be in such a close proximity to the man that managed to turn her hormones into a humming mess.
That night Megan had no rest. Old ghosts were haunting her relentlessly and she fell asleep just before the new dawn broke.
She woke up a few hours later, her sheets soaked and her nighties twisted above her waist.
A few moments later she met her mother’s concerned face.
“Are you sure you are up to it, honey?”
She flashed her most brightest smile at her mom, trying to still the twisting and turning of her stomach.
“Of cause I am. I learned from the best, didn’t I?”
“That’s not what I’m talking about, and you know it. But if you’re not ready to talk about it, just know I’ll be here when you are ready. If you ever feel you’re not coping, dad and I will understand. Thanks for doing this for us, pumkin.”
A quick hug and she flew out the door to start the most difficult job she ever accepted.
